What does Moving Forward mean to you?
 

To me, Moving Forward is mainly about mindset. It’s not about movement in a physical sense, but about staying curious and being open to new things. In life, I try to regularly take on new perspectives and look at things from different angles.I’ve learned that you should never stop learning. Both professionally and personally.

That’s what Moving Forward means to me.

What gives you energy in your daily life?

First and foremost, my family. They give me support and help me keep things in perspective. At work, it’s the collaboration within the team, engaging challenges, and the feeling that we’re working together towards something meaningful. And then there are the smaller breaks in between. Short weekend trips, exploring new places, taking time to relax. And occasionally adding a bit of adrenaline. Most recently, we tried indoor skydiving in a wind tunnel in Munich. My wife enjoys relaxing in a spa, while I’m more drawn to adventure. So we try to combine both. That balance helps me recharge and come back with a fresh perspective.

What are you most proud of?

Honestly, I find it difficult to answer that from a personal point of view. Most things that work well are the result of team effort. I see my role somewhat like a coach in sports: I can give input, initiate things, and set a direction. But the team is the one that executes it.

And if the team isn’t aligned, it simply doesn’t work. That’s why it’s especially rewarding for me to see teams develop and create results together that weren’t necessarily visible at the beginning.

What matters most to you when working with others?
 

Trust is the foundation. Without trust, collaboration doesn’t work. I really value it when different ideas come together and lead to better solutions than if everyone worked on their own. And one more thing: the human side shouldn’t get lost. When a team works well together and understands each other, everyone is naturally willing to give a little extra.

Looking at your personal development: what has shaped you?

Over the years, I’ve become calmer and more reflective. I used to react more directly in certain situations. Today, I take a moment, put things into perspective, and respond more consciously. That helps me stay clear. Especially in more challenging situations.

A particularly meaningful experience for me was becoming a grandfather. It affected me emotionally more than I expected. You raise your own children for many years, and at some point, they go their own way. Then, with your grandchildren, a part of that experience comes back. You get to see development all over again, just from a different perspective. You pass on your own experiences, you see things differently. And you become more aware of what really matters.

Values like respect, empathy, helpfulness, curiosity, and perseverance are important to me. And I try to pass those on. Along with not forgetting to enjoy life.
