Meet Matthias Esche
Project Manager at Berghof Process Control & Logistics
How Matthias Gets Things Moving
For the past two years, Matthias Esche has been part of Berghof Process Control & Logistics GmbH, where he leads the ongoing development of our BLU software as Project Manager. Several times a year, he and his team roll out new releases packed with improvements and new features that create real value for our customers.
Matthias serves as the link between customers, developers, and the testing team: he listens, evaluates requirements, tests solutions, and makes sure everything is thoroughly documented. What drives him? Improving processes, setting things in motion, and ultimately seeing how his team’s work makes customers’ daily lives easier.

What does Moving Forward mean to you?
To me, “Moving Forward” means steering things in a positive direction. Both at work and in my personal life. At Berghof, that often means something very concrete: solving problems, improving processes, and putting ideas into action that truly make our customers’ daily work easier.
Outside of work, my heart is in animal welfare. Together with my wife, I run an organization that helps injured and homeless cats. That feeling of actively making a difference gives me an incredible amount of energy. And I bring that same energy to my professional life.
When do you leave work with a smile?
Hands down, it’s when we launch a new BLU software release and the customer isn’t just satisfied, but genuinely excited. That’s when I know all the hours of planning, coordination, and testing have paid off. The best part is when you can see right away: what we’ve built is making a real, tangible difference for them. That’s when I head home with a great feeling.

What are you most proud of?
On a personal level, I’m most proud of my family. And of the fact that our daughter goes through life so kind and willing to help others.
In both my personal and professional life, what matters most to me is making a difference people can truly feel. In our animal welfare organization, we’ve helped over 1,000 cats in the past eleven years. Every animal that recovers and finds a home is a small but very special success to me.
What makes you strong together as a team?
Our team has a big advantage: we all pull in the same direction. Everyone brings their expertise to the table, jumps in when things get urgent, and speaks openly about what’s going on. That’s how we always manage to find a way forward. Even in tough projects. This kind of teamwork is the reason we can rely on each other, and why our customers can rely on us.

If you could have one superpower: What would it be?
If I could, I’d want the power to heal. In animal rescue, we often see illnesses that could be treated easily—if only the animals would let us treat them. One snap of the fingers and a cat’s respiratory infection would be gone.
Maybe it’s that same wish to make things better that defines me. Whether I’m at the office or at the shelter, if I can help, I’m in my element.
