Outstanding ideas

July 25, 2018

For her final thesis for her master’s degree in Crossmedia Publishing & Management at the “Hochschule der Medien” in Stuttgart, Jasmin Talmann designed an integrated approach to corporate communications for a business unit in the Berghof Group – thereby developing outstanding ideas in the truest sense of the word. The unique and inspiring working atmosphere, which has always encouraged creative ideas at Berghof, plays an important role in this.

It couldn’t have been any better: Jasmin Talmann’s professors at the “Hochschule der Medien” in Stuttgart awarded her work the top score of 1.0.

Professors Dr. Andreas Otterbach and Dr. Helmut Wittenzellner praised the work, saying that they were above all impressed with Jasmin’s ability to combine scientific research with confident statements. “The analysis of communications revealed the strengths and areas in which action is needed, both to the company and to the reader,” they both said.

In her final thesis, Jasmin Talmann uses the example of Berghof Automation GmbH, where she has been a working student since April 2017, to examine the role played by corporate communications in the digital transformation process. The objective was to develop a concept, which would enable even a medium-sized company to play a defining role in technological developments.

It’s a subject that fits in perfectly with the companies in the Berghof Group: there has always been a special kind of culture here, which encourages visionary ideas through the intense cooperation of creative minds from a wide variety of sectors and a close partnership with our customers – expressed in the shared guiding principle: “Berghof – your innovation hub”.

From Jasmin Talmann’s point of view, this unique culture is also one of the reasons her final thesis was such a success: “Striving for something new is not a burden for Berghof employees but a passion. That’s why everyone was really enthusiastic about supporting me in my work.”

The biggest challenge, which experts believe will affect the future success of SMEs, is part of Berghof’s DNA: not only to master the increasingly rapid technological transformation, but also to play an active role in shaping it. Targeted communications work, which always keeps up in terms of speed and flexibility with these developments, is extremely important here.

The good news is that the Berghof Group has long recognised the signs of the times in this respect: just recently, the traditional company appointed a recognised communications expert as its new head of Communications and Marketing so that it can focus more than ever on this area. After all, as Jasmin Talmann quite rightly expresses in her thesis: “Only those who communicate can influence subjects and opinions.”

Jasmin herself will also be joining the Berghof Group's Marketing team as a brand new “Master of Arts” in the literal sense of the word.
