The Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) is a compact wastewater purification technology, that combines biological treatment and membrane filtration.
Dissolved and suspended organic matter in wastewater are mineralized in the bioreactor to CO2 and water. Berghof tubular UF membranes separate the purified water from the biomass.
Contrary to other MBR's systems the External MBR of Berghof positions the membranes outside the bioreactor with time and cost advantages of economic operation.
It avoids additional costly lifting equipment and extensive chemical cleaning operations.
Berghof is one of the leading providers of the innovative External MBR technology based on our high quality tubular membrane module products.
The Berghof External MBR technology has proven its reliable & economical operation over the last decades. Today over more than 140 full scale MBR plants are equipped with Berghof products and attest our success.
