The Berghof system solution encompasses three specific, harmonised hierarchy levels in hardware and software:

  1. The system controller (Siemens PLC) with special software elements: This is used by the system program to access the segment controller via Ethernet (TCP/IP) and ensures the requisite data consistency at all levels.
  2. The segment controller (Berghof) with software functions: e. g. transmission of system control commands and status reports for the vehicle controllers. The segment controller forwards commands to the turnout controller. A PLC controller with a display is used as the segment controller and it displays the system state in the relevant segment to the maintenance personnel.
  3. The vehicle controller (Berghof) with software functions for controlling the vehicle, the vehicle drive, for locating positions and for communication.

High performance, flexible ESR vehicle controller

Each vehicle carries a flexible PLC. With onboard I/O and communications interfaces it can assume other tasks, e.g. intelligent data management or control of lifting / rotating axes.
